BRING THE FAMILY

Downtown at Sundown is the perfect weekly family outing for the summer! Come down and enjoy FREE FAMILY FUN with inflatables, face painting, bag toss, sidewalk chalk an dmore. Our weekly sponsors will also have fun activities planned each week for the kids and a few goodies for the rents! See you there!

FOOD & DRINK

DT@SD partners with several food and beverage establishments to provide delicious treats for all. While the weekly lineup of vendors may vary, here are a few we have partnered with in the past.

Those wishing to consume alcoholic beverages must bring an I.D. and obtain a wristband (free of charge) to purchase. Food and beverage are purchased using form of payment decided upon by each vendor. Each vendor sets individual prices for their menu item. No outside food or beverage is permitted within festival area.

GENERAL POLICIES & GUIDELINES

Look, we’re all about having a good time, but within reason. For the safety and enjoyment of all festival attendees, Downtown at Sundown (DT@SD) has established the following policies and guidelines. In addition, being an outdoor festival, we accept we cannot control the weather but offer a few tips.

  • Feel free to bring a chair or a blanket for your comfort

  • Bring a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen

  • Pets are allowed, but must be leashed, up to date on all shots and vaccines, and cleaned up after

  • Must be 21+ to purchase alcohol – please have ID ready

  • No outside food or beverage is allowed inside the festival

  • No alcohol is allowed outside the festival (DT@SD Staff will ask you to dispose of any alcoholic beverages before you exit)

  • No weapons or firearms are allowed inside the festival

  • DT@SD reserves the right to decline admittance to anyone engaging in violent, intoxicated or unruly behavior and will be ejected from the festival

  • Parking is available in the 72-hour lot west of the festival, as well as along side streets in downtown Brookings

  • Main Avenue from 6th Street to 4th Street will be closed at 3 PM. All vehicles not moved by 3 PM will be towed at owner’s expense.

  • Accessible parking is available in the Brookings Register parking lot

  • Food and beverage are purchased using form of payment decided upon by each vendor. Each vendor sets individual prices for their menu items.

Downtown at Sundown goes on rain or shine – be prepared for the elements. If it rains, DT@SD will pause and wait for the weather to pass. In the event of extreme weather, like tornadic activity and lightning, DT@SD will cancel.

SOLICITING AND CAMPAIGNING

Downtown at Sundown prohibits the distribution by hand of any leaflets, pamphlets, coupons or petitions inside the festival area. In addition, DT@SD reserves the right to dismiss any organizations or non-profits requesting a booth for political campaigning. DT@SD does not allow any soliciting or campaigning of any kind inside the festival area.

DT@SD gives several reasons for this:

  • The goal of Downtown at Sundown is to create a safe, family-friendly, central gathering place for community members to enjoy. We do not wish to subject our attendees to unwanted solicitation, nor is it a place to push specific agendas.

  • The authorized vendors, retail, and non-profit organizations have gone through all the required steps, including paying a fee, for the opportunity to market their business or share information within the festival

  • The City of Brookings has granted DT@SD control over the designated festival area and is therefore not a traditional public forum.

PHOTOGRAPHY AND VIDEO

Downtown at Sundown operates video and photographic cameras at the festival in its entirety. By entering the festival area, you express consent and acknowledge you’ve been informed your image may be captured on film. Please reach out to DT@SD staff if you have any questions or concerns.

  • All media personnel must check-in with DT@SD Event Staff

  • Images/video clips may appear in future promotional efforts

  • All questions regarding media & marketing may be directed to info@brookingschamber.org.
